Ash Wednesday and Lent

Wednesday night christians all over the world were told that they were dust and to dust they shall return. And then, as if that wasn't weird enough, someone took ashes and marked their forehead with the sign of the cross. And with that, Lent has started. For 40 more days we are focused on the coming resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. During these 40 days might we remember that indeed we are sinners and are in dire need of a God to show up, to resurrect, to overcome death, and to give hope to a world that groans. Lent is about hope in the future, it is about proclaiming the coming Kingdom of God. As you fast (give something up) and pray this season, may you turn and return back to the one who give life.
